You don’t need sales tactics to write music that connects
A lot of the advice I see online for songwriters is targeted towards how to write music that sells. If that's your goal, go for it! But for some people, engineering your work to be liked by others is a one-way ticket to creative block. Here's a little reflection on how the goal of writing music that sells may not be aligned with your authenticity, and why I believe that you can still connect with people through your music even if you don't use those tactics.
